A project produced for the SMBA 15-minutes-show in Amsterdam. The piece consisted in a message being read over the loudspeakers at the shopping mall Magna Placa in the inner city of Amsterdam.

In correlation with the particular time-frame of this art-event, the message was repeated three times over a period of fifteen minutes:

“Here at the Magna Plaza, we aim to provide a safe and pleasant environment for you to do your shopping. We also request your contribution and your support in this effort, by asking you to report any suspicious behavior or individuals to the information desk at ground level.

This could be:
individuals loitering in a limited area for extended periods of time
individuals displaying behavior lacking obvious aim or purpose
individuals in suspicious-looking, oversized or inappropriate clothing
individuals carrying oversized baggage or packages
individuals with their hands in their pockets or otherwise hidden from view
individuals moving notably slowly, alone or in a crowd
individuals running or moving notably fast, alone or in a crowd
individuals walking closer to the display windows than 1.5 meters

Thank you for your cooperation in making a visit to the Magna Plaza a secure and peaceful experience. We hope you are enjoying your visit, and wish you a continuously good day.”

Produced in cooperation with Stedelijk Bureau Amsterdam and Magna Plaza.
