One Woman Radio

a Swedish-style radio show

A two hour, pre-produced radio show, created specifically for an American audience. Exaggerating the caractheristically dry and informative style and manner of the Swedish radio channel “P1”*, “One Woman Radio” was designed to stand out in sharp contrast to commercial American main-stream radio. In correlation with the title, the artist occupies all roles involved; host, studio-guests, reporters, interview-objects, callers etcetera.

One Woman Radio was produced for the exhibition “Nordic Nomads” at gallery White Columns in New York. Presented as a sound-installation in the exhibition-space, the show was also broadcasted over local NY-channel Columbia Radio on the opening night of the show.
(*Swedish radio channel “P1” traditionally has been filling a significant function as a post-war educational organ for the Swedish population.)
