Something for Something

an experiment with the artist as a consultative resource

Something for Something was a project focusing on an artist as an asset in society in a different capacity than that of a producer of art-objects. Simultaneously, the piece was an attempt to a creative solution of the financial situation of the artist.

For a three-day period, the exhibition-space was transformed into a consultation-office where the audience could book a 45-minute session with the artist. During the session, the “clients” could consult the artist on any matter, being promised not necessarily a solution, but a serious evaluation and analysis of the issue, according to the methods and ways of thinking that the artist would normally employ in her work.

The price of the consultations – 62,50 SEK / 45 minutes – was based on the price of a new pair of boots for the artist divided with 16; the number of consultation periods available during the weekend.
